FAQs
How are your boards made?
I make all of each board by hand, customized to the individual who orders it. I handshape and glass each board start to finish, which means I’m personally ensuring your board comes out great at every step along the way. All of my boards are made with high-quality polyurethane (PU) foam, epoxy resin, and S-glass. This combination builds a board that is much stronger and lighter than a traditional PU board, but still has the same familiar flex and feel. E-glass is available on request, when flex and performance is a higher priority than durability.
When will my board be completed?
My philosophy is that boards take as long as they take to be done right. So turnaround time varies by order and by season, but generally 2-6 weeks is a reasonable estimate. The more custom and complex the request, the longer it will take.
Can you add artwork to my board?
I cannot accommodate custom artwork or logo requests beyond what I can do with resin color. I’m a one-man shop working at a great distance from the established surf industry, and I’ve found that the time and energy required to accommodate artwork requests slows down everyone’s orders. While I do my best to make the most beautiful boards possible, they are built for surfing and performance first.
How does the custom order process work?
First, use the custom order form to tell me more about what you’re looking for in your next board. From there, I’ll provide an estimate for the cost of the board and for the deposit (which covers the cost of any materials required to make your board). Once the deposit is paid, I’ll get to work, and the balance is due on completion.
Are deposits refundable?
For stock models (and most customizations of those models), deposits are refundable until production of your board has begun. For board orders that require me to order special blanks or materials, deposits are partially refundable (less the cost of materials) after materials have been ordered up until production begins. Once production has begun, deposits are non-refundable. Refunds are at my sole discretion.
Do you do ding repair?
I provide ding repair services to customers who have ordered a board from me and need to have it repaired. I also accept ding repairs requests for boards that I haven’t made on a case by case basis. I am primarily an epoxy shop, although I often do have a small stash of polyester resin in the shop sometimes. Important: boards brought in for ding repair must be stripped of all wax.
